1. Introduction
Welcome to WHIZPLAN. We are committed to protecting your privacy while providing a seamless trip planning experience.
CORE PRINCIPLE:
Your personal trip details (itineraries, notes, plans) are stored LOCALLY on your device. We do not have access to your travel plans. We only collect the minimum data necessary to manage your account, process purchases, and prevent abuse of our services.
2. Information We COLLECT
To operate the App's business features, we collect limited data:
Account Data (If you sign in):
- Email address and User ID (managed via Supabase)
- This allows you to sync your "Travel Credits" across devices
Billing Data:
- Transaction receipts and purchase history
- Current "Travel Credit" balance
- Note: We do NOT collect or store your credit card numbers. Payments are processed by Apple or Google.
Device Security Data:
- Device Fingerprint: A unique identifier derived from your device hardware
- Purpose: To enforce "Fair Use" limits on the free tier and prevent quota abuse
- This identifier is hashed and used strictly for security and quota management, not for advertising.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
We strictly respect the privacy of your actual travel plans:
- ✗We do NOT collect your trip itineraries or travel details
- ✗We do NOT collect your personal notes or emergency contacts
- ✗We do NOT collect your photos or documents stored in the App
- ✗We do NOT collect your search history (except to decrement your credit quota)
- ✗We do NOT sell your data to third-party advertisers
- ✗We do NOT track your location history
4. How the App Works (Hybrid Model)
WHIZPLAN uses a privacy-first hybrid approach:
LOCAL STORAGE (Your Private Data)
Trip plans, waypoints, and saved places live on your device. If you uninstall the app without a backup, this data is removed.
CLOUD STORAGE (Your Account)
We use a secure cloud database (Supabase) to store your User Profile and Credit Balance. This ensures you don't lose your purchased credits if you switch phones.
5. Device Permissions
The App may request the following permissions to function properly:
Location Services:
- Used to: Display your location on maps and help with trip planning.
- Data handling: Location coordinates are processed locally. Search queries are sent to Google Maps Platform.
Storage:
- Used to: Save your trip plans and data on your device.
Camera/Photos:
- Used to: Add photos to your trip plans (stored locally).
Internet:
- Used to: Load maps, weather, sync account data, and process payments.
You can manage these permissions at any time through your device settings.
6. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party providers for specific infrastructure needs:
Payment Processors:
- Google Play Billing (Android) & Apple App Store (iOS)
- Purpose: Securely process payments for "Travel Credits"
- Data: We do NOT see your card details. We only receive a transaction receipt.
Backend Services:
- Supabase
- Purpose: User authentication and database for credit balances
Maps & Weather:
- Google Maps Platform & Weather APIs
- Purpose: Provide map data and forecasts
These third-party services operate independently and are subject to their own privacy policies.
7. Data Security
We implement robust security measures:
- Cloud Data: Your account data is stored in a secure database (Supabase) with row-level security.
- Local Data: Your trip plans are stored on your device. We recommend using a device PIN/passcode to protect this data.
- Connections: All data transmission occurs over secure SSL/TLS connections.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
- Account Data: Retained as long as your account is active. You may request account deletion within the app.
- Trip Data: Retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Device Fingerprints: Retained to maintain fair use history and prevent abuse.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Under various privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), you have certain rights:
- Right to Access: You can access your trip data in the app and your account data via your profile.
- Right to Deletion: You can delete your account and associated data.
- Right to Portability: Trip data is stored in standard formats locally.
- Right to Opt-Out: You can use the app without creating an account (with limited quota).
10. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We do NOT use advertising cookies or third-party marketing trackers. We use Device Fingerprinting strictly for security, fraud prevention, and quota management.
